Armchair Generals Music
Armchair Generals are an Electronic/Downtempo/Soulful House band from Long Beach, CA.
First known for their collective jam sessions and chill/rhythmic vibes, Armchair Generals quietly debuted with “Provocateur” in 2000. Later, they made it their mission to win attention and captivate music lovers with their infectious sound. “The Lunchbox” was released in 2009 and oh, was it soulfully delicious. Following the love for the 18-track album, SolShock Media helped launch the band in 2010, garnering local media coverage, securing live performance opportunities, and generating publicity through showcases and events.
The year returned feature articles in the LB Post (the Hi-lo) as well as the print lifestyle magazine, Live Long Beach. But it was the trio’s packed performance at Viento y Agua Cafe that amplified the buzz. It shifted them to the top ranks of emerging bands in the Long Beach underground music scene. We partnered with LB Independent to capture the high-energy show.
The summer releases of “Daydreamer” and “Way Out” from their self-titled EP and third album, sent them sizzling to new heights. Undoubtedly, these were the songs that captured the attention of house music DJs worldwide. The uptempo dance tracks put them on the map globally for record labels, playlists, tastemakers, and music collectives they admired. Soul Tracks, one of the most popular U.S. websites dedicated to soul music, published an album review.
In 2011, the AGs performed at The Mezz in Los Angeles for the Nu-Soul Magazine signature event, ART + SOUL, joining Seattle-based indie soul artist, Choklate, on the line up.
Armchair Generals’ Bebo 6, Oyani 9, and Oso 7 continue to make music out of Long Beach and Inglewood, California. Though their live performances have slowed, anytime will be a good time for the adored independent band to grace the stage and showcase their unique blend of hip hop, deep house, downtempo and R&B.
