Posted on: 2014/11/21, by : Sharreace E. BaldwinStonesThrow Records recording artist and hip hop legend Percee P may have put it best when describing Slim da Reazon as a “lyrical mastermind” during the recording of their Jus Beyond-produced track, “Till Dawn.”
In his hometown of Cincinnati, OH, Slim da Reazon aka Matthew Parham, exhibited rare talent early, honing his craft by performing poetry and hip hop at local talent shows and open mics throughout high school and at the University of Cincinnati. In addition to writing freelance articles for local newspapers and magazines, Reazon also received airplay on WAIF 88.3 FM radio for his underground single, “Welcome to Cincinnati.”
In 2009, Slim da Reazon moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue his passions of writing and performing. Reflecting his diverse artistic penchant, Reazon released a “Hip-Rock” music project in 2011 with the genre-bending band, 513 Elevators entitled, “Goin’ Up.” Songs from “Goin’ Up” and their 2012 EP “The Clouds” gained notable media attention from popular Hip Hop blogs and earned the band a loyal and lively following at their many shows.
Reazon is currently recording and contributing to several highly anticipated projects including his first book; a collection of poems entitled “Love > fear”, and an accompanying “rhythm word” album of the same name. His collaborative hip-hop mixtape was released in 2015.
Slim da Reazon’s artistic expression continues to expand. The talented musician, photographer, voice-over artist, and writer is also a member of The Urban Renewal Project, an eclectic soul/jazz/hip hop band out of Los Angeles.
