Exclusive Debut Performance of “Edge” by Pony Box Dance Theatre May 24

For one night only, experience the innovative works of Pony Box Dance Theatre with one debut and two electrifying performances. “Edge” illuminates the poetry of Sylvia Plath and features the all-male contemporary dance troupe with a guest female LA Ballet soloist. This scintillating evening of dance at Pasadena’s Lineage Performing Arts Center is highly anticipated following the success of their recent production highlighted by LA Weekly as one of five dance shows to see.

On Saturday, May 24, join Pony Box Dance Theater for the exclusive premier of “Edge” and a special performance of “The Collective” at the Lineage Performing Arts Center located at 89 S. Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91105. This one-night-only show begins at 8:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Early ticket purchase is suggested as the show is expected to sell out. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased online.

“Edge”- an intriguing new work inspired by the words of American poet and writer Sylvia Plath, explores the complexities of emotional connection featuring the all-male dance troupe of Pony Box Dance Theatre and guest female LA Ballet soloist, Sadie Black as Sylvia. In this work, the female character searches for connection with 5 different men, with varying degrees of success. She is alone, whether physically or emotionally, even in the company of many, unable to overcome her isolation and lack of freedom.

In “The Collective”, the four men of the Pony Box Dance Theatre explore the tension between individual and collective desire.

“The moon has nothing to be sad about,

Staring from her hood of bone.

She is used to this sort of thing.

Her blacks crackle and drags.”

Sylvia Plath (1932-1963)
